40 pieces maximum
Registration essential: $5 entry
Register at Pulp Fiction Comics 34A King William St Adelaide during business hours.
Each contributing artist will receive a “free” booklet on the opening night.
Guidelines:-
Instantaneous 3 will have 2 parts
and contributions must meet both of the criteria:-
PART ONE - THE BOOKLET
Once again, artists will need to submit a page for the INSTANTANEOUS 3 Programme.
The programme will be black and white interior, with a colour cover.
The page will tell part of a story, preferably consisting of 3 to 9 panels,
so the story that the panels depict is open ended on at least one side
- imagine a page ripped out of a comic and placed into the Instantaneous booklet.
This way, the bulk of the programme will look like individual pages taken from all sorts of different comic books.
-ideally, we would like at least 3 panels (of any dimensions so long as they fit within the space) for your page.
Your art piece can be any one of these panels depicted (first, last, one of the middle ones etc.)
-If you cannot illustrate any more than the one panel that you have produced for the art piece,
then you'll need to write a short script outlining a few moments before and after the panel
that you have used for the art piece.
Dimensions to be finalized, though it will be comic size (259mm high x 168mm wide).
Either size, there will be a bleed around the edge, with a space at the bottom allotted for the page number
and title of the piece. All pages will need to be submitted at a resolution no less than 300dpi,
and fit roughly into the dimensions. Furthermore, all artists will be able to submit a bio of themselves
of no more than 50 words to appear at the end of the booklet.
A line of contact detail (artists choose how they wish to be contacted, e.g. e-mail, phone etc.) will also be present.
PART TWO - THE ART PIECE
ONE panel from your comic book page
will be the basis for your piece
exhibited in the Instantaneous 3 exhibition
and meet the following guidelines:-
1) It must look like a panel from your contribution page
- unrelated works aren't applicable.
2) It must include some form of text:
Line(s) of dialogue
Word balloon(s)
Thought balloon(s)
Written Sound Effect(s)
Line of Narration(s)
-something that identifies it as a piece of sequential art from a comic book page.
3) Preferred size of the art piece IF YOU WISH US TO FRAME IT
is A3 (to fit into an A2 Frame with a black matte border)
or A4 (to fit into an A3 Frame with a black matte border).
If you wish to frame it yourself, by all means!
4) The medium used is limited to 2 dimensions,
or something that can be hung on a wall,
preferably able to be framed.
5) All pieces will be auctioned on the opening night
Tuesday May 6th, with all profits donated to charity.

INSTANTANEOUS II PRESS RELEASE:
INSTANTANEOUS II An Art Exhibition Opening 7pm Tuesday 4th December
at the Grace Emily Hotel.
Auction of pieces starts at 8pm.
Exhibition runs to the 21st December 2007
The second INSTANTANEOUS art exhibition,
celebrating original comic book panels taken out of their context,
is opening at 7pm on December 4th at the Grace Emily Hotel,
232 Waymouth St Adelaide.
Instantaneous showcases the talents of South Australian comic book creators.
Each piece in the exhibition highlights a single panel from the comic book medium
taken out of its original story context.
"The idea is to get people thinking about what has occurred
before and what will occur after the instant depicted in each piece-
in other words, the power of a single panel,"
says Peter Moore, co-curator of the Instantaneous Art Exhibitions.
All 45 pieces will be professionally auctioned off on the opening night, with all proceeds
going to the Vincentian Centre and Magdalene Centre kitchens.
Pieces will then reside in the gallery until December 21 st .
”The inaugural Instantaneous held in May managed to raise over $1800 for the kitchens, which was a fantastic effort.
This time we aim to better that. The auction will be a unique chance
to own a piece of original Adelaidean artwork while making a donation to grass roots charities,” hopes Peter.
Acoustic legends Athletic Teenage Joggers will be playing at the venue
for the opening, with special guest Dom.
So it is best to be at the GRACE EMILY HOTEL
on the evening of Tuesday December 4th!
